APO Eagles, a recognized alumni association of Alpha Phi Omega, congratulates Andrew Carter, from Troop 165 in Simon Kenton Council is this year’s recipient of the APO Eagle’s Leaders of Service Scholarship.
Andrew’s Eagle Scout project was an impressive 150-foot land bridge that includes an 8” wide paved trail for ADA accessibility. The project also involved planting native plants. The trail included a concrete pad and bench for people to rest and enjoy nature. The project also included fencing for safety. Andrew directed 9 youths and 40 adults spending over 1500 hours to make this project a reality.
Andrew is a 2024 graduate of Bloom Carrol High School located in Caroll, Ohio. During high school, he was active in the science club, serving as president, the choir, and the drama club where he acted in school plays. He also volunteered for blood drives, the school recycling program, the science club-sponsored pollinator garden, and at a food pantry.
During his Scouting youth, Andrew served in a variety of positions including Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Patrol Leader. He also attended the National Youth Leader Training and served on staff for three years. He attended the 2019 World Scout Jamboree held at the Summit in West Virginia.
Andrew was recognized with the National College Board’s Rural and Small Town Award in 2024 and is on the Principal’s Honor Roll. He will be attending The Ohio State University this fall.
